The practice and performance of Emergent Improvisation created by Susan Sgorbati addresses the nature of improvisation in dance and music. Come witness an informal showing as the culmination of our weekend-long performance residency.
A small group of dancers + musicians including Kate Kyle, Carley McCready, Molly Sarle, Julee Snyder and Porter Witsell guided by Carson Efird and Joe Westerlund will come together for this first time this weekend with the intention of forming an ensemble through the practice of Emergent Improvisation structures inspired by nature. These organic structures invite the performers to tap into their self-organizing instincts and explore through movement what it means to be human as they navigate between the nature and society, self and collective.
Come be a part of the process and observe Emergent Improvisation composed spontaneously in the moment.
